About this role

Lead enterprise data architecture at ABC Fitness, designing scalable data models and pipelines across AWS and Databricks Lakehouse. Drive data governance, mentor teams, and leverage generative AI to accelerate delivery in a remote-first environment.

Must have

10+ years of data engineering or data architecture experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field

Proficient in SQL and Python with ability to write efficient code

Deep hands-on experience with Databricks Lakehouse Platform including Delta Lake and Unity Catalog

Extensive working knowledge of AWS services including S3, EMR, EKS, Glue, Redshift, and Lambda

Proven track record designing data models using dimensional, star schema, Data Vault, or Kimball methodologies

Hands-on experience with Databricks Workflows, AWS Glue, and/or Apache Airflow for pipeline orchestration

Experience building data models and dashboards using Databricks SQL and/or Power BI

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Ability to mentor and develop data engineers at all levels

Responsibilities

Define and maintain enterprise data architecture strategy for data acquisition, archive recovery, and database implementation

Design scalable and secure data models, data flows, and integration patterns across AWS and Databricks Lakehouse ecosystem

Align data architecture with business objectives and IT strategy

Establish data governance frameworks and best practices

Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR

Manage and document metadata including data dictionaries to support data discovery

Communicate data architecture strategies and decisions to stakeholders at all levels

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data teams

Supervise and review work of contractors and third-party resources

Evaluate and recommend data technologies with emphasis on AWS-native services and Databricks

Leverage generative AI tools to accelerate data modeling, coding, and documentation

Lead data architecture efforts in large-scale projects and digital transformations

Personally design and build data models and pipelines to set technical standards for the team
