Lead engineering end-to-end for Wave Mobile Money, a fintech making Africa the first cashless continent. Own systems, people, and standards across ~132 engineers while setting AI vision and ensuring reliability for millions of users across 9 countries.

Must have

Managed an engineering organization of at least ~100 people including managers of managers

Software engineering background with ability to read code and follow technical arguments

Accountable for a system where failure was expensive involving money safety or regulated data

Hired senior engineering leaders and moved someone out of a role that was not working

Writes clearly short and persuasively for non-engineer readers

Has actual point of view on AI in engineering based on experience not just plans

Believes in Wave's mission and can articulate why without prompting

Responsibilities

Protect engineering speed and simplicity as headcount grows ensuring ownership per engineer

Own reliability standards for uptime incident response and careful change management for financial systems

Build and lead leadership layer with 5 direct reports and ~132 person engineering organization

Set vision on AI including autonomous voice and digital agents and coding agents in Python monolith

Support expansion by planning architecture and organizational structure for new markets

Represent engineering to company through clear writing for engineers non-engineers leadership and regulators
