About this role
Design and evolve backend capabilities for GitLab's global DevSecOps platform. Shape architecture, mentor engineers, and integrate agentic AI into production systems in a remote-first, high-performance environment.
Must have
Deep backend expertise with APIs, data systems, and performance tuning
Proficiency in modern backend languages with ability to learn and adapt
Experience designing modular backend boundaries and migration-safe architectures
Proven experience building or operating agentic AI systems in production
Ability to lead through influence and clear written communication

Mentor associate and intermediate engineers through code and design reviews
Diagnose and prevent performance and reliability issues at scale
