Support and develop the platform serving Wikipedia to millions globally. Work on open-source infrastructure, automate operations, and ensure reliability of a top-10 website. Join a distributed team using Puppet, Kubernetes, and Debian Linux in a remote-first environment.
Must have
6+ years of experience in an SRE/Operations/DevOps role as part of a team
Experience with shell and scripting languages used in SRE context, primarily Python
Experience with configuration management tools, specifically Puppet
Experience designing and managing infrastructure security for large fleets of diverse services
Experience with technical response during security incidents
Experience with package management on Debian Linux systems
Strong Linux system-level troubleshooting skills
History of automating tasks and identifying process gaps for automation opportunities
Strong English language skills verbal and written for distributed team communication
Experience leading incident response and post-incident review rituals with root cause analysis

Responsibilities
Perform day-to-day operational and DevOps tasks on public facing infrastructure including deployment, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting
Implement and utilize configuration management and deployment tools including Puppet and Kubernetes
Lead continuous improvement by automating installation, configuration and maintenance of platform services
Work closely with product teams on architectural design of new services and scaling them to operate at scale
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation including incident response, diagnosis and follow-up on system outages or alerts
Collaborate with a global cross-functional team in an asynchronous communication environment
Mentor peers in areas of technical and operational strength
Travel 1-2 times per year for in-person events and team meetings
