About this role

Senior Full Stack Developer role on the lending team at Scratch Financial, a Series C fintech startup focused on veterinary payment solutions. You'll architect and build full-stack systems including multi-step applications, risk assessments, payment processing, APIs, and event-based integrations using Node.js, TypeScript, and React.

Must have

5+ years professional software engineering experience

Strong backend skills in Node.js and TypeScript

Experience developing RESTful APIs

Frontend experience using React

Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Practical knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases

Experience with domain-based monorepos deploying multiple backend services

Fluency in English required

Availability in UTC-3 to UTC-8 timezones

Responsibilities

Architect, design, and implement systems within the Scratch ecosystem

Build multi-step application processes and backend risk assessments

Develop payment processing and public facing API solutions

Create event-based integrations for third-party systems

Write clean, maintainable code across backend services and frontend components

Ensure end-to-end test coverage for all features

Grow and improve CI/CD pipelines

Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and code reviews

Take ownership of incident response and debugging

Translate product requirements into implementation plans and working code
