About this role

Lead agent optimization efforts at Temporal, designing tools to help users build AI agents optimized for token spend and response time. Work with Python, TypeScript, Java, and Go on open-source systems powering AI leaders like OpenAI and NVIDIA.

Must have

8+ years of professional work experience

Proven experience optimizing AI systems using ML and systems techniques

Experience with generative AI for agents and coding

Fluency in multiple programming languages with affinity for learning new ones

Deep experience with concurrent programming and concurrency primitives

Experience designing APIs and writing documentation for public libraries

Strong technical communication skills in English written and verbal

BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent production software experience

Responsibilities

Design and build agentic coding systems for high-quality outputs

Develop deep understanding of AI application development patterns and architectures

Take end-to-end ownership of new features with exceptional reliability

Work with Python TypeScript Java and Go

Serve as domain expert on AI design patterns with field staff

Work directly with developer community to debug issues and gather feedback

Write public technical documentation describing Temporal concepts and APIs

Support customers needing engineering expertise on rare occasions

Travel to meet coworkers for a week once or twice a year

Attend occasional developer conferences to represent Temporal optionally
