About this role

Chainguard is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for their Customer Platform team, which owns the APIs, entitlements, policies, and platform primitives that connect customers to Chainguard's secure software supply chain. You'll design and build backend systems in Go, serve as technical anchor for cross-team integrations, and extend AI-powered features into customer-facing products.

Must have

Production Go experience

Strong ownership of API design and backend systems at scale

Experience working across multiple engineering teams on technical standards and shared infrastructure

Comfort operating in ambiguity with diagnosis and path forward

Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical guidance

Familiarity with cloud-native environments like Kubernetes is a strong plus

Experience with entitlements, billing systems, or platform infrastructure is a plus

Prior exposure to building or extending AI-powered product features is a plus

Responsibilities

Own features end-to-end from design through implementation, rollout, and iteration

Design, build, and evolve backend systems in Go that power entitlement, policy, and customer onboarding services

Serve as primary technical interface between Customer Platform and other engineering teams

Extend agentic AI foundation into customer-facing product experiences

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior and mid-level engineers

Contribute to product-driven roadmap with real deadlines and ship iteratively
