About this role

Lead and mentor a team of software engineers building Tailscale's control plane infrastructure. Manage 2-3 cross-functional pods while driving technical direction, operational excellence, and organizational growth in a fully distributed, early-stage company.

Must have

Demonstrated leadership experience managing and mentoring engineering teams

Background building and operating production services with high availability

Expertise managing on-call rotations and incident response

Experience developing in Go for production systems

Ability to evaluate complex technical tradeoffs independently

Strong skills in giving and receiving constructive feedback

Flexibility to adapt to dynamic startup environment
