Own medium-complexity platform engineering initiatives that improve automation, tooling, cloud infrastructure, and software delivery capabilities for Sophos engineering teams. Build, test, and deliver cloud-based cybersecurity services reliably, securely, and at scale using Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
5+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Release Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or Software Engineering
Strong experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Artifactory
Strong working knowledge of AWS cloud services including IAM, EC2, EKS, VPC, S3, Route 53, CloudWatch
Strong hands-on experience supporting Kubernetes in production environments with Amazon EKS preferred
Strong experience with Docker and containerized application development and deployment
Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting skills including shell scripting and networking
Strong programming and automation experience using Python and Groovy with Bash scripting knowledge
Strong experience designing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
Experience with release management practices including branching strategies and progressive deployments
Solid understanding of secrets management, SSL/TLS certificates, PKI, and least-privilege access
Own end-to-end delivery of medium-complexity platform engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD initiatives
Design and improve developer platforms, release automation, and engineering workflows
Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, and related tooling
Drive improvements to Kubernetes Amazon EKS environments and deployment standards
Design, provision, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible
Develop automation using Python, Groovy, and Bash to eliminate manual work
Troubleshoot complex build failures, deployment issues, and infrastructure problems
Improve platform observability through logging, metrics, dashboards, and alerting
Champion secure engineering practices including secrets management and DevSecOps integrations
Participate in operational support and on-call rotations driving root-cause analysis
Mentor Software Engineers and early-career engineers through guidance and code reviews
Role requires balancing software engineering fundamentals with operational excellence
Collaborate across engineering, QA, product management, architecture, security, and release teams
Leverage approved AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to improve productivity
Communicate technical designs and operational readiness across engineering teams and stakeholders
Experience supporting Java Spring Boot-based applications in production is preferred
Experience with DevSecOps tooling such as Black Duck, Prisma Cloud, or Veracode is preferred
Experience with AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT Enterprise is preferred
Base salary ranges from 105000 to 175000 CAD with bonus eligibility and comprehensive benefits
