About this role

Build and maintain Affirm's batch compute platform that serves as the backbone for ML, product, and financial engineering workloads. Lead infrastructure development for reliable, scalable, self-serve compute solutions on cloud infrastructure.

Must have

4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin

Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes

Experience building and managing Workflow Orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, or Luigi

Experience scaling Spark or Flink for extremely large scale datasets on Kubernetes

Experience defining technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple and extensible design

Proficiency making significant changes in large code bases safely

Strong verbal and written communication skills for global team collaboration

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent practical experience

Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems

Support peers and stakeholders in product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design and analytics

Support operations and availability of team's artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics and handling on-call efforts
