About this role

Lead the Developer Environments team at Affirm, building fast, stable ephemeral development environments used by 800+ engineers across development and CI workflows. Drive inner-loop developer productivity in a hypergrowth FinTech environment.

Must have

7+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in engineering management

Proven experience leading teams in infrastructure, platform engineering, or developer productivity

Strong technical background in backend/infrastructure systems

Experience building and operating cloud-native systems on AWS and Kubernetes

Hands-on familiarity with containerized environments and CI/CD systems

Track record of operating services with high reliability including monitoring and incident response

Strong communication and leadership skills with experience mentoring high-performing teams

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

Define and drive the vision for Developer Environments and inner-loop developer productivity

Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale tied to business-impacting projects

Lead and mentor a team of engineers fostering ownership and technical excellence

Own design, scalability, reliability, and usability of ephemeral developer environment systems

Improve environment provisioning, stability, and teardown workflows

Drive measurable improvements to developer journey including startup time and success rate

Implement monitoring, alerting, incident response, and operational playbooks

Collaborate with CI/CD and Test Platform partners to tighten feedback loops

Identify developer pain points and lead productivity initiatives through tooling and automation
