About this role

Own the developer experience for building Tailscale-native applications, including TSNet (Go), tailscale-rs (Rust SDK family), and the tailscale CLI. Define reference architectures, golden paths, and embedding patterns that make integrating Tailscale connectivity into applications seamless for thousands of developers.

Must have

6+ years in product management or software engineering background moving into product

Real time spent on a developer-facing product: SDK, API, CLI, library, or developer tool

Shipped developer-facing features that developers used in production

Can read Go and/or Rust and hold credible technical conversation about API and SDK design

Has taste in developer experience with opinions about API ergonomics, docs, error messages, and getting-started flows

Does customer research through GitHub issues, Discord, office hours, and finding patterns in noise

Turns ambiguous scope into shipped increments and closes loop after launch

Responsibilities

Own roadmap for native apps experience: TSNet, tailscale-rs, and tailscale CLI

Define what Tailscale-native application means including reference architectures, golden paths, and embedding patterns

Own developer experience end to end from blog post to running embedded node

Set Rust SDK family strategy for which TSNet capabilities to port and in what order

Treat CLI as product with scripting ergonomics, output conventions, and automation surfaces

Run internal dogfood loop with Aperture and Tailscale PAM as most demanding customers

Partner with GTM and Customer Success on embedding deals with AI platforms and developer tools

Engage developers in GitHub issues, Discord, and office hours to build coherent picture of embedded developer needs
