About this role
Postscript is the AI messaging platform trusted by 20,000+ Shopify brands. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll own meaningful systems end-to-end, drive technical quality, and shape how the team builds at the intersection of scale and product velocity. AI-first development is central to the role.
Must have
6+ years of experience building large-scale backend systems and APIs
Active daily user of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot
Strong command of relational and NoSQL databases, SQL, and database modeling
Experience building and observing applications on AWS
Familiarity with Datadog or comparable observability tooling
Experience working on both 0-to-1 initiatives and complex existing systems
Ability to context switch quickly across concurrent workstreams

Take deep ownership of systems and product areas on your team
Independently investigate, design, and execute solutions across distributed systems
Architect, build, and maintain highly available, scalable REST APIs and backend services
Drive system decoupling, modularization, and technical debt reduction
Build agentically using concurrent autonomous agent workflows
Stay at forefront of emerging AI tooling and practices
Contribute to integrating AI into systems and workflows across engineering org
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and go-to-market teams
Identify and eliminate single points of failure
Improve engineering workflows by bringing better tools and building internal utilities
