About this role

Build AI-powered cybersecurity solutions on the Agentic AI team at Sophos. Design scalable cloud-native microservices, integrate LLMs and data systems, and provide technical leadership across multiple projects.

Must have

BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

5+ years professional software development experience

Strong Python development skills with FastAPI or similar frameworks

Hands-on experience building cloud-native applications on AWS

Solid understanding of Docker and Kubernetes

Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases including Postgres and Redis

Experience integrating search platforms like Elasticsearch

Comfort with Unix/Linux environments and modern development workflows

Proven ability to own large features end-to-end from design to monitoring

Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers

Ability to shape technical direction and contribute to architecture decisions

Strong problem-solving skills for complex distributed systems

Excellent communication skills across engineering and product teams

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Familiarity with Agentic Coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex

Responsibilities

Collaborate with leadership to define technical direction and feature priorities

Design and implement scalable cloud-native microservices and REST APIs using Python, FastAPI, and Celery

Build AI-powered applications and the platforms that enable their development and deployment

Integrate and optimize Postgres, Redis, and Elasticsearch for high-performance AI workloads

Partner with Product Management, DevOps, QA, and developers to deliver customer solutions

Take end-to-end ownership of major features from design through deployment and monitoring

Provide technical mentorship and guidance to less-experienced engineers

Influence architecture and design decisions across multiple services and projects

Stay current with Generative AI, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity advances

Work with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, event-driven systems, and large-scale data processing
