About this role

Senior QA Software Developer at Zensurance, a leading Canadian InsurTech. Design and build scalable test automation frameworks for a high-traffic MERN/PostgreSQL insurance platform while mentoring junior engineers and driving quality strategy across the Core Group.

Must have

5-8+ years of experience in Test Automation and Quality Assurance

Strong experience with modern E2E automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, WebDriverIO, or Selenium

Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript

Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha

Experience with API testing and automation

Experience with BrowserStack or similar cross-browser testing platforms

Experience with manual testing approaches including Functional, Exploratory, and UAT

Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams

Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, and maintainability

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Proven ability to take ownership of quality initiatives within a team

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain reusable test automation frameworks for integration, E2E, and load testing

Leverage AI-assisted development and agentic coding workflows to accelerate test creation

Partner with developers to integrate automated tests directly into CI/CD pipelines

Balance automated suites with manual exploratory smoke testing and functional testing

Identify coverage gaps and proactively propose improvements to reduce system fragility and technical debt

Utilize SAST/DAST tools for security testing and Axe/Lighthouse for accessibility testing

Guide intermediate and junior engineers on testing best practices and responsible AI coding tool use

Participate in design discussions and Agile ceremonies to advocate for testability and maintainability

Promote shared responsibility for quality across the entire engineering team

Monitor production incidents and operational data to drive future quality improvements
