Senior Android developer for Just Eat Takeaway.com's Scheduling Hybrid Network team, building high-performance native Android experiences that power the courier logistics network. Focus on Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, location services, and modern architecture at global scale.
Must have
5+ years native Android development with shipped Google Play Store apps
Expert-level Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for production UIs
Deep experience with multi-module codebases using MVVM, MVI, and Clean Architecture
Location services expertise including FusedLocationProviderClient, background tracking, geofencing, and Maps SDK
Advanced performance tuning with Android Studio Profiler, Perfetto, Macrobenchmark, and Baseline Profiles
Strong async and data skills with Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, Room, WorkManager, Hilt, and RESTful APIs or GraphQL
Advanced Gradle configuration with Kotlin DSL and version catalogs
Comprehensive testing experience with JUnit, Espresso, Compose UI tests, Robolectric, and MockK
Agile delivery experience with continuous delivery, feature flagging, and staged rollouts
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or Gemini
Proven capability leveraging AI for code generation, test creation, flaky test detection, and automated PR reviews
Strong understanding of prompt engineering principles and AI output evaluation
Awareness of AI-driven development standards for privacy, reproducibility, and security in mobile contexts

Responsibilities
Architect and develop high-performance, large-scale native Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
Evolve and maintain scalable multi-team modular architecture with MVVM and MVI patterns
Engineer and optimize critical location-based services including GPS tracking, background location, geofencing, and map rendering
Own and automate the full Android CI/CD and release pipeline with Gradle, Fastlane, and Play Store deployment
Maximize application performance by optimizing memory, battery, startup times, and APK/AAB sizes across device tiers
Drive quality engineering with robust testing strategies across JUnit, Espresso, Compose UI tests, and Robolectric
Collaborate and mentor across cross-functional teams including Product, Design, Backend, and QE
Foster growth and technical excellence of the mobile discipline within the organization
