About this role

Build and scale APIs and backend systems that power Affirm's enterprise merchant integrations. Lead technical delivery for the Powered by Affirm team, driving checkout and onboarding solutions while mentoring engineers and shaping engineering culture.

Must have

4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin

Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes

Experience defining technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple and extensible design

Proficiency making significant changes in large code bases safely

Strong verbal and written communication skills for global team collaboration

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems

Support peers and stakeholders in product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design and analytics

Proactively identify project, process, technology or business issues and lead solving them

Support operations and availability of team's artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics and supporting on-call efforts

Foster culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards and advocating through writing and tech talks

Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback, guidance and leading by example

Base Pay Grade N, Equity Grade 6
