About this role

Build and own backend systems and cloud infrastructure for Mozilla's Ecosystem Services team, powering privacy-focused products like VPN, Relay, and Monitor. Lead end-to-end service ownership from code to production operations on GCP.

Must have

4+ years of software development experience with strong backend focus

Strong professional experience with Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Rust

Proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL query optimization

Hands-on DevOps experience on Google Cloud Platform with Docker

Hands-on experience with observability tools such as Sentry and Grafana

Track record of owning services end to end including on-call production support

Experience mentoring junior engineers and driving technical excellence

Responsibilities

Lead backend development building and maintaining server-side logic

Own services end to end from code to deployment and production health

Work with CloudEng to maintain and improve production environments

Participate in on-call rotation triaging and resolving production issues

Periodically rotate into support role handling releases and dependency updates

Apply AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to improve velocity and quality

Partner with frontend and cross-functional teams on API and data contract design

Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and reliability

Participate in security and privacy reviews ensuring compliance standards are met
