About this role

Join Tailscale's Strategic Projects team to transform AI-native prototypes like MCP gateways and LLM proxies into production-grade products. You'll harden emerging connectivity workloads, establish security practices around agent-generated code, and work directly with customers embedding Tailscale into their infrastructure.

Must have

Strong at hardening and stabilizing production software with attention to edge cases and operational gaps

Go experience is required for this role

Heavy daily use of coding agents and LLMs in engineering workflow with informed perspective on their limitations

Comfort integrating third-party APIs and basic networking knowledge

Experience working independently in a fully remote environment

Ability to thrive in ambiguous fast-paced startup-like conditions with shifting priorities

Responsibilities

Partner with product engineers to shape prototypes with production path built in from the start

Co-own journey from demo to stable production through hardening error handling and observability

Own production bar on prototypes graduating into Tailscale product surface area

Establish review testing and security practices for agent-generated code

Work with reference customers on integrations for internal adoption and product embedding

Find and close long-tail gaps separating prototypes from dependable products
