About this role

Nango (YC W23) is hiring Staff Backend Engineers to build their developer infrastructure platform for API integrations. You'll own core systems end-to-end, shape the product roadmap, and work directly with customers in a high-ownership remote role.

Must have

10+ years of backend engineering experience with proven ability to scale high-traffic systems

Deep experience with developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and performance-critical systems

Comfortable with Node.js and modern backend stacks

Strong communicator, proactive, and reliable in a remote-first environment

Product mindset and developer empathy with focus on optimizing for DX

Pragmatic, positive, and low ego with ability to step up in incidents

Startup-ready with autonomy, ownership-driven approach, and ability to navigate ambiguity

Based in North America, LATAM or Europe

Responsibilities

Design and scale backend systems, APIs, and services for the open-source platform

Build world-class developer interfaces including APIs, SDKs, UIs, and runtime

Collaborate directly with customers to solve integration challenges

Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability across backend services

Shape the roadmap and company strategy with high ownership of key decisions

Engage with the open-source community and own maintenance of the repo
