Serve as primary legal advisor for Mercury Treasury and Mercury Invest, advising across the full product lifecycle for non-deposit investment products. Work at the intersection of product, compliance, risk, engineering, and operations in a fast-growing fintech environment.
6+ years of legal experience with at least 2 years focused on non-deposit investment products
Familiarity with Investment Advisers Act, Securities Act, Investment Company Act, Regulation Best Interest, Form CRS/ADV, and FINRA rules
Some in-house experience preferred but not required
Exceptional communication skills with ability to tailor to different audiences
Proactive sense of ownership and willingness to find answers
Strong working knowledge of AI use cases within legal roles and financial services
Broader foundation in financial services, payments, or fintech preferred
Serve as primary legal advisor for Mercury Treasury and Mercury Invest investment products
Advise across full product lifecycle including new features, disclosures, marketing content, and operational matters
Build relationships across product, compliance, risk, engineering, and operations functions
Work closely with compliance team on regulatory matters and examination readiness with FINRA and SEC
Contribute across Legal on other product areas to broaden expertise
Use AI tools intentionally to drive efficiency in legal workflows
Translate dense regulatory concepts into straightforward narratives for stakeholders
Embrace new regulations and market shifts as learning opportunities
Team operates with urgency, curiosity, and bias toward action
Legal counsel expected to have point of view on how products can meet regulatory bar elegantly
Role involves significant non-traditional legal work including scoping cross-functional projects

Compensation includes base salary, equity, and benefits
Canadian salary range is $207,000 - $258,700 CAD
